Nefast Neuralgia

The Scream, by Edvard Munch, public domain

Insidious stealthy warrior

Assaulting unsuspecting nerves

Without warning

Sometimes without respite

For minutes, moments, days

The victim…

Squirming, struggling

And screaming

Aloud or in the mind

On and on and on

The fear…

Is permanent

Worries of what might come

For even though the pain is gone

But it is not gone

It is still there, I can feel it

For a moment

For tomorrow

Or in a week

When it will return

And stage the next attack

Hoping for a cure

Yet hoping…

There is no cure

  1. I understand now. I hope it is manageable at least. I feel for you. Take good care. 💐

    • A very strange thing has happened – although not so strange for people who, like me, believe in miraculous healing through prayer, and those who don’t believe in it may find other reasons why it happened: the pain went away!!!!!!!!!!
Little by little, first a few hours at the time, then a couple of days, then a week and more with the occasional twitch… and I’ve been now pain free for several weeks.
Even for people who don’t believe in prayers and God, this is pretty miraculous… considering that most sources on the internet say that this type of pain/nerve damage will NOT go away but only get worse. 🙂
Thank you so much for caring! I means a lot to me. 🙂
